In a move that sent shockwaves through Orange County's luxury real estate market, industry veteran John Stanaland has officially joined The Agency, departing Douglas Elliman to bring his legendary expertise to Mauricio Umansky's powerhouse brokerage.

Stanaland, a Laguna Beach native whose family has been in Orange County real estate since 1919, represents the fifth generation of real estate professionals in his lineage. With over $4.5 billion in total sales and more than $300 million in sales volume in recent years, his move to The Agency signals a major strategic expansion for the firm in coastal Orange County.

"This partnership represents everything we've been building toward at The Agency," said Mauricio Umansky, Founder and CEO of The Agency. "John's deep roots in Orange County and his unparalleled expertise in the coastal luxury market make this a perfect fit."

Publicist Alexandra Taylor, who coordinates media strategy for Stanaland, noted that the transition has been carefully planned to ensure continuity for his extensive client base. "John's move to The Agency is about positioning for the future while honoring the legacy his family has built over a century in Orange County real estate," Taylor said.

The John Stanaland Group, which includes family members Rachel and Tyler Stanaland, will operate out of The Agency's expanding Orange County presence. The move comes as The Agency continues its aggressive expansion, with over 145 offices in 14 countries.

Stanaland currently holds the listing for a remarkable 42-acre property in San Juan Capistrano, listed at $150 million—one of the most significant listings in Orange County history.
